Welcome to CTI Techtalkers! We are an open Toastmasters club that is committed to helping our members achieve their communication and leadership goals. We offer encouragement and support, a mentoring program and lots of fun while learning. Guests are welcome.

Meetings are held every Wednesday from 12 noon to 1 pm at 3553-31st St NW, Calgary, AB. Our club meets all year.

Mentoring

Did you ever wonder how some of the most famous people achieved their success? They tell us it wasn't only their brains or their talent or even just luck - most of them had a mentor to guide them down their chosen path. CTI provides a mentoring program to help each member reach their goals. Mentors share their experience and their insight and help both new and experienced members develop communication and leadership skills faster than a person could do on their own.

Select a mentor for three speeches, 6 months, a year or for a particular project. You will be glad you did!
For more information about mentoring, contact our VP Education, Linda.

Circle of Gold - Group Mentoring

CTI is one of very few clubs that offers a Circle of Gold, a peer mentoring group that includes members of the club that want to take their speaking to the next level. Workshop meetings are held upon request to work on speech projects for which members are particularly interested in concentrated feedback. For example, members may meet twice a month from January to March to develop and hone speeches for the International Speech Contests held in March of each year or may work on a speech to present at the club or at work. Group members workshop the key message, the speech structure, the supporting stories and the delivery and staging. For more information about Circle of Gold, contact Darlene.

Mentees will get the most out of the mentoring relationship when they...
 - Participate in developing a shared vision, mutual trust and common expectations
 - Communicate their needs and learning style
 - Develop & communicate SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-defined) objectives for
what you want to accomplish in the partnership timeframe.
 - Understand that they are in charge of the speed and direction of their own development.
 - Celebrate when things are going well
 - Be honest when things are not going well and be ready to problem solve with the mentor to resolve any issues.
